Bradgate Park

Bradgate House

Bradgate Park is a public park in Charnwood Forest, covering 850 acres with wild and rugged terrain, old trees, roaming deer and the ruins of Bradgate House - the 16th century house and birthplace of Lady Jane Grey.

Naturally, the unfortunate Lady Jane Grey is reputed to haunt the ruins of her former home. On Christmas Eve, she is said to ride up to the house in a carriage drawn by four headless black horses.

In keeping with the theme, she holds her head on her lap. Once the carriage draws to a stop, she alights and walks towards the ruins.
